History:

The Shanghai circuit was first out on the calendar in 2004 and had a unique details to this track. The Shanghai circuit was designed to look like a Chinese character "Shang" which means "High" or "Above".

The main grandstand which provides 29,000 seats gives a overlook of nearly 80% of the track. I believe the most amazing feature about this track isn't the circuits shape of a Chinese character, but I believe it is the recreation of a the teams paddocks in a style of a ancient Yuyan-garden in Shanghai.
