History:

Kuala Lumpur hosted their first Grand Prix in 1999, and didn't disappoint the home crowd and the drivers.

The Prime minister of Malaysia wanted the country to be more recognised and become an industrial country. The nations leading oil company Petronas started to invest heavily in Formula 1, with being linked to F1 teams like Sauber and the Malaysia national car company.

Dr Mahathir, the president of Malaysia ordered that were to have a Grand Prix circuit. The circuit has now held the F1 racing 32 times.
